The Victorian Government has released its updated Residential Tenancies Regulations, confirming significant reforms that every property manager must understand. The new rules include new requirements across notice periods, rental bidding, minimum standards, and the collection and handling of renters’ information. These updates include the 25 November changes now in force, as well as further reforms commencing in March 2026, meaning compliance obligations begin immediately and will continue to evolve.
With several provisions already live, property managers are strongly encouraged to secure their place in one of the four upcoming REIV webinars. These sessions will walk you through what’s changed, what’s coming next, and the practical steps you need to take to remain fully compliant. Following consultation and feedback to the government, the REIV has welcomed the delayed commencement of some reforms, allowing additional time, resources, and rigorous implementation to ensure a more balanced and effective rollout.
Staying informed is critical – these reforms will impact day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, and the advice you need to provide to your rental providers.
