VCAT Update for Residential Property Managers

There are some important changes planned to upgrade VCAT’s residential tenancy systems and enhance both myRDRV and myVCAT portals in 2026.

KEY POINTS TO NOTE:

  • VCAT will have two systems for case management, myRDRV and MyVCAT with RT Hub to be phased out over 2026 for new applications.

  • This will be a phased process to allow an efficient transition to myVCAT.

  • Account credentials will be consistent across myRDRV and myVCAT i.e. account holders can toggle between the two portals without the need to logout of one to login to the other. Any existing myRDRV account holders will be able to use their credentials to access myVCAT.

  • Business account set up is expected to be available in April 2026. Please note, businesses will be required to apply for this feature, request forms will be available from VCAT closer to the release date. This is to address privacy and authentication requirements from a VCAT perspective.

CREATING NOTICES IN myVCAT

In 2026, notices and applications will commence in the myVCAT portal in 2 stages.

Stage 1: February - Creating new notices to vacate

From February 2026, 90-day notices to vacate can no longer be created in the Residential Tenanices Hub and will need to be created in the myVCAT portal.

These notices require a 90 day notice period and are used when a property is being sold, renovated, demolished or if there’s a change to how it will be used (e.g. being occupied by the landlord or their dependent). It does not apply for notices to vacate for rent arrears (91ZM), nor for renters in public housing.
